Samsung launches trifold phone ever in history

Samsung Takes Bold Step in Smartphone Tech with First Tri-Fold Device

Samsung has taken a new step in smart phones technology. On Monday, the company announced the launch of its first TRIPLE Folding smartphone, marking the next stage in smartphone innovation. As competitors continue to introduce new technologies, Samsung is working to stay competitive in the fast-moving tech race.

This new device will first be available in South Korea. The smartphone is called the Galaxy Z TriFold, and it will go on sale on December 12, 2025. After that, it will be launched in other markets including China, Singapore, the UAE, and Taiwan, as confirmed by Samsung in an official press release.

Samsung also stated that the phone will be available in the United States in 2026. Now let’s take a look at the key features of the device.

The Galaxy Z TriFold will be released in only one model, available in black. It will come with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The price is set at around $2,449. In countries like Pakistan, the price may increase by 20–25% due to PTA taxes and duties.

The phone features two folding hinges. When fully opened, the display expands to nearly 10 inches, giving it a tablet-like experience. The screen resolution is 2160 × 1584 pixels.

When folded, the device is about 0.5 inches thick, which is slightly thicker than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7.

According to Counterpoint Research Associate Director Liz Lee, Samsung’s first tri-fold phone will be released in very limited quantities and will not be available in all markets. She said the goal is not high sales volume.

She added that as competition increases — especially with Apple expected to enter the foldable market in 2026 — Samsung wants to protect its reputation as a technology leader. This product will help Samsung test durability, hinge design, and software performance before wider commercial use.

One unique feature of the Galaxy Z TriFold is its three foldable panels, which allow users to run three apps side by side in a vertical layout, creating a desktop-like experience.

The device also includes Samsung’s largest battery among its foldable phones and supports super-fast charging, reaching 50% in about 30 minutes.

TM Roh, Samsung’s co-CEO, said the Galaxy Z TriFold is the result of years of development. He explained that the company aimed to combine portability, performance, and productivity into a single device.

Samsung has been a pioneer in foldable smartphones since introducing its first foldable phone in 2019. While the foldable phone market is still relatively small, competition continues to grow, especially from Chinese brands that offer strong designs at competitive prices.

In September, Huawei announced its second-generation tri-fold phone with a folded thickness of 12.8 mm. This year, Honor, another Chinese brand, also launched foldable smartphones in global markets. Honor was separated from Huawei in 2020 to avoid U.S. sanctions during ongoing trade tensions between the U.S. and China.

Finally, like Samsung’s other recent foldable phones, the Galaxy Z TriFold comes with an IP48 rating, meaning it is water-resistant for up to 30 minutes, though its dust protection is limited.
